MONOLITH

Monolith is a concept project that I took upon myself to develop during the early days of COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Prior to the pandemic the contract furniture industry was just beginning to explore the idea of taking the office outside by providing product solutions that allowed for employees to have work space outside with in the corporate campus. This trend was also emerging on a more robust platform in higher education. During the uncertainty of the time, social distancing, and working from home became the "new normal". That being said, the pandemic had elevated a new horizon for product development in need of COVID related solutions. Monolith was born from that time to assist in solving those problems.

Monolith is a modular post and frame system that allows the architect or designer to create open, semi-private & private spaces within open spaces within an interior or part of a landscape architectural plan. Monolith is a series of panels, posts, work & seating surfaces with different vertical & horizontal skin options that allow for complete customization of it's dynamic environment. It's modular components allow for the designer to have the ability to configure unlimited combinations for collaborate interaction, or individual heads down work. Power, sun screens, and other accessories (not shown) have also been taken into consideration. The modular design allows for all components to be flat packed for efficient shipping. The images shown below illustrate just one concept using the modest tool box of components to create a central meeting & work space flanked by individual semi private spaces. The conference table, Chairs and barstools are all part of a separate collection of outdoor furniture that I have developed called The Truss Collection which consists of seating and table options.

The images below are renderings direct from my engineered models created in Solidworks.
